About Totara Hill Montessori Preschool

Founded in 2005, Totara Hill Montessori is situated four kilometres from Matakana Village. Its beautiful landscaping blends the preschool into a peaceful, rural setting.

Owner Tia  Wooller draws on more than 35 years of her own Montessori teaching experience to create the classroom's daily working environment.  She also oversees the preschool's administration.

Tia's  vision for Totara Hill Montessori has been to establish a small preschool with a vibrant educational experience for local families. 

Having a strong parental commitment means that the philosophy of independence is encouraged at home.

Parents have regular opportunities to attend information evenings where they learn more about child philosophy and Montessori pedagogy.

Located on a rural property gives the children the opportunities to be away from the busyness of their lives and absorbed in nature. Walks and days on the backfield are an integral part of the program.
